In the Fall of 2017, Wehrs Machine & Racing Products introduced the Ultra Force Spring Smasher, a manual push-pull machine based on the machines that Jason Sivils was building at the time. Since we took over the manufacturing of the Ultra Force Spring Smasher from engineer Jason Sivils, our interests have peaked in the technology side of our sport.

In 2018, we formed an alliance with Keith Berner of Accu-Force Spring Smashers to implement their automation to our machines and teamed up with engineer Dave Guldan to re-work our manual machines. We are continuously working on tools, data acquisition, and software that we feel will change the game and help you win races!

More recently in 2023, we released our new ‘Automatic Move-to-Start’ function for both our manual and automatic machines that speeds up your process when using your machine. The Automatic Move-to-Start feature provides the most precise center-to-center measurement and is easy to use.

What is a spring smasher?

The spring smasher/load rater machine is a precision measurement and calibration tool used in circle track racing to accurately measure suspension loads under controlled conditions. The machine applies a known, repeatable force to a spring while measuring load versus deflection, allowing teams to verify true spring rate and identify inconsistencies that are not visible by free-height measurement alone.

Equipped with a calibrated load cell and CNC machined components, the load rater provides accurate force readings throughout the compression range. This enables racers to map load at specific installed heights, match springs side-to-side, and validate setup changes before they go on the car. The spring smasher/load rater removes guesswork from suspension tuning, giving circle track racers repeatable data they can trust when chasing consistency and speed.

The Ultra Force spring smasher has the capabilities of smashing a spring/bump stop setup to 3,500 lbs or pull a pull bar up to 3,200 lbs with electric motor motion.
